KOTA KINABALU: Hibiscus Malaysia employees brought festive cheer to underprivileged children ahead of Hari Raya through a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The programme saw volunteers accompanying children from four charity homes to select their own baju Raya and baju kurung for the upcoming celebration.

Held on March 7 at Emadira textile shop here, the event involved 15 Hibiscus Malaysia staff led by Operated Asset Sabah head Ahmad Fazmee Baharuden and 99 children from Rumah Anak Yatim Darul Bakti Kota Belud, Rumah Home Tuaran, Rumah Putera Harapan Ranau and Rumah Anak Yatim As-Sakinah Papar.

The initiative was funded through contributions from the company’s employees under the Wakalah Zakat fund.

Volunteers helped the children select outfits for Hari Raya, with male staff assisting the boys with their baju Melayu, songkok and samping, while female staff members helped the girls choose baju kurung and matching tudung.

Fazmee said the company remained committed to supporting communities in need.

“Hari Raya is a time of joy and unity, and we want to ensure these children can share in the celebration,” he said.

The Wakalah Zakat initiative also benefited another orphanage, Rumah Anak Yatim Tambunan.

On March 11, Fazmee handed over essential provisions and stand fans to the home’s principal Noor Jannah Rusinin during a ceremony at the Hibiscus office.

The items are expected to benefit the 101 children staying at the interior Sabah orphanage.
