KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno Chief, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said that Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah never invited Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) to be with them.
“PBS doesn’t need to reject something that was never offered. BN Sabah never invited you back.”
“I read with amusement the statement by PBS acting president Datuk Joachim Gunsalam, claiming that PBS is rejecting cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming Sabah state election.
“Let me state this clearly, BN Sabah has never at any point, extended an invitation to PBS to return or collaborate,” he said.
In a statement today, Bung mentioned that Joachim can’t reject a proposal that was never made.
“Please, don’t flatter yourself. I just want to ask, what exactly are you rejecting? This appears to be yet another case of political self-delusion, where one imagines conversations and negotiations that simply never took place.
“Once hailed as a defender of Sabah rights, PBS today is but a fading shadow of its former self. Its political identity has eroded through years of inconsistency jumping coalitions, shifting allegiances, and betraying partners when convenient.
“Now, in an effort to remain relevant, PBS attempts to portray itself as a key player being courted by BN,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bung also highlight that PBS has become politically insignificant.
“It is no longer a leader in Sabah’s political scene merely a passenger clinging to the coattails of other parties in the GRS government.
“BN Sabah does not pursue alliances with parties that lack a clear political compass or credibility.
“They chose to abandon BN in the past for its own expedient interests. That chapter is closed,” he said.
Bung also added that PBS should stop political overreacting.
“We are not in the business of reviving outdated political relics or rehabilitating those who once betrayed our trust.
“BN Sabah is focused on rebuilding the state with sincere and principled partners not with parties that survive on nostalgia and spin.
“Please, enough with the theatrics. This is not the 1990s. Voters today are informed and discerning. There is no need to fabricate stories of rejecting BN when no overtures were ever made,” he added.
Bung also point out that everybody should move forward with maturity.
“Leave political hallucinations where they belong in your imagination,” he said.
