KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Journalists Association (SJA) and Sabah Electricity (SE) continue to tighten enduring bonds through a friendly football match at the Sabah Football Association (SAFA) football field near Likas on Saturday.
The SJA team emerged victorious after clinching the final goal in the third half of the match, ending the scoreline at 5-4 following stiff competition from both sides.
SE Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Yaakob Jaafar said they hosted the event to not only strengthen the relationship between both parties, but to also appreciate SJA’s role as SE’s strategic partner.
“Sabah Electricity appreciates the media fraternity for their cooperation over the years in seeking clarification to ensure accurate dissemination of information.
“We hope to continue continue working hand in hand with SJA for the benefit of all parties,” he said when officiating the match.
Mohd Yaakob also announced a RM5,000 contribution for the annual Kinabalu Press Awards (KPA), which will be held in June, during the event.
Separately, he said the most important thing in the rebranding of Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) to SE is to improve their quality of service to the customers.
He said this includes changing the mindset of all SE staff to better deliver services to consumers in Sabah and Labuan, including the technical aspect.
Meanwhile, SJA Sports and Recreation bureau chief Fardy Bungga extended the association’s thanks to SE for organising the friendly competition.
Fardy echoed the belief that such programmes can act as a bridge to tighten the relationship between SJA and SE, which had long been formed.
